Guaria de Osa – A Rainforest Orchid
As you first step toward the Amazon, perhaps an individual or family vacation in the forests of Costa Rica may feel just right?
In recent years, and in keeping abreast of shifting cultural trends, Guaria de Osa – in English, “The Orchid of the Osa Peninsula” – has changed its name officially to the Ocean Forest Ecolodge. This Rainforest sanctuary, located near the tip of western Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula, is best known as a spiritual retreat center and Rainforest vacation destination for civilization weary Gringos and others. Though its name is new, Ocean Forest Ecolodge continues to serve as the long standing home of Fundacion OSA, and commitment of the facility’s founder and director – Jonathon Miller Weisberger – to the work of Fundacion OSA, remains unchanged.
As described in more detail at this Fundacion OSA Facebook page, the activists who live and work at the Ocean Forest Ecolodge maintain a non-profit organization with active rainforest conservation and cultural heritage projects in the countries of Costa Rica and Ecuador. At the same time they offer a truly unique introduction to life in the Rainforest through welcoming group retreats and individually vacationing folks and families while also offering numerous Rainforest exploratory tours and adventures.
In particular, while vacationing a the Ocean Forest Ecolodge, be sure to take a further step into Rainforest exploration with a tour of the nearby jewel of Costa Rica’s park system: Corcovado National Park.
If this introduction to life in the Rainforest whets your appetite for deeper exploration of Rainforest Medicine healing traditions, Indigenous Kichwa culture and group travel into the Ecuadoran Amazon link to This Page. If that link is not currently operative use this Ocean Forest Ecolodge Contact Page to inquire specifically as to when the next “Amazon Wilderness Immersion” experience will be scheduled.
